Everything you need to track job expenses with FieldKit.
🌍 Setup for Your Country
Go to Settings → Country Preset and tap your flag to auto-apply currency and tax settings. Then fine-tune in the Tax Settings section.

🇺🇸 US: No standard national sales tax — rates vary 0–13% by state. The US preset turns off tax tracking by default; switch it on and enter your state rate if needed.
🇦🇺 AU: The AU preset sets GST at 10% (tax = total ÷ 11) as a default — adjust if your situation differs.
🇬🇧 UK: The UK preset sets VAT at 20% as a default — adjust if your situation differs.
🇨🇦 CA: The CA preset sets GST at 5% federal as a default — add your provincial HST/PST rate on top if applicable.
ℹ️ These presets are starting points, not tax advice. Confirm your tax rate, registration requirements, and what you can claim with a registered accountant or tax advisor.

Apply your country preset
Settings → Country Preset. Sets currency and tax in one tap.

Add expenses daily
Date, amount, category, description. Add a vendor and job number to unlock the Summary breakdowns.

Set up recurring expenses
Toggle "Recurring" when adding an expense. Insurance, subscriptions, and leases auto-appear when due. Log them in one tap from the Recurring tab.

Use markup on materials
Toggle "Add markup" when entering materials. The charge-out price is calculated instantly so your invoice matches your actuals.

Export at tax time
Hit ↓ CSV to send a spreadsheet to your accountant. Filter by month first for quarterly returns.
⬆ Markup Calculator
Set your default markup % in Settings. When you add an expense and toggle Add markup, FieldKit shows the charge-out price (your cost + markup). This appears on the expense card so you can match it to your invoice line items. Great for materials — buy at trade price, charge at retail.
💾 Backup
All data lives in your browser's local storage — it never leaves your device. Export a backup regularly (Settings → Export Backup) and store it in Google Drive, iCloud, or email it to yourself. Import it on any device to restore everything. Clearing browser data or cache will erase all expenses.
❓ FAQ
What's the difference between the Tax Amount field and the Tax-deductible toggle?
They're two separate fields that track two separate numbers. The Tax Amount field records the tax portion of the purchase (e.g. GST/VAT) for your own reference. The Tax-deductible toggle is just a flag you set on each expense — it doesn't calculate anything. FieldKit doesn't give tax advice; it only helps you record and organise the numbers. Check with your accountant or tax advisor about what applies to your situation.
Can I edit an expense after saving?
Yes — tap the ✏️ button on any expense card to edit it in a modal. All fields are editable.
How do recurring expenses work?
Toggle "Recurring" when adding an expense to create a template. Go to the Recurring tab to see what's due. Tap "Log Now" to record this period's occurrence — it advances the due date automatically.
My data disappeared — what happened?
Clearing browser data or cache erases local storage. Always keep a backup via Settings → Export Backup.
